Michele Laurelli
Entrepreneur, researcher and AI lecturer
Multi-agent and RAG systems running in production. I designed Maestro, Algoretico's architecture for autonomous agents.
Private models installed on the client's own infrastructure, compliant with the EU AI Act.
Transfer learning, sparse attention, concept erasure. Papers, preprints and a filed patent.
Code migration across more than 30 languages, from COBOL to modern stacks, with Scriba AI.
Founder of Algoretico, Scriba AI and AI Factory. I lead teams of ML engineers, developers and data scientists.
Lecturer at San Raffaele University and the Italian Institute of Criminology. Six published books.
I was born on May 15 in the province of Savona, on the Italian Riviera.
I founded Algoretico. I design AI systems for businesses, teach at university and write books.
I live in Savona and work between Milan and Savona, together with S, my amazing border collie.
I fence épée and sit on the board of Club Scherma Legnano, I go sailing, and I'm a Mensa member, where I coordinate the artificial intelligence group. I studied composition and conducting at the Paganini Conservatory in Genoa.
I do research and write books about artificial intelligence, I've founded companies that bring it to market, and I work alongside businesses that want to use it, with consulting and custom projects that I follow all the way into production.

The fundamental laws of artificial intelligence: toward a new science
The first systematic attempt to build AI as a scientific discipline in its own right. Five laws that govern every intelligent system, from the simplest classifier to the largest language model.

A journey through history, science and philosophy that links ancient alchemy to artificial intelligence and the future of humanity.

AI in criminal trials and investigations, and how artificial intelligence compares with human intelligence.

How mathematical properties shape the algorithmic models that AI is built on.

What is artificial intelligence, and why does it matter to us?
Discover the book
The first book in Italian whose texts were written entirely by an artificial intelligence.
Discover the bookEverything I build starts with research. I work on sparse attention, transfer learning, agent architectures and sovereign AI, and the results become papers, a patent, and the frameworks we use every day in Algoretico's projects.
Patent application for an industrial invention, filed with the Italian Patent and Trademark Office (UIBM). It's the foundation of Maestro, Algoretico's architecture for orchestrating autonomous AI agents.
It treats Transformer attention as a variational problem, to understand when a model chooses to focus on just a few tokens and how the trade-off between sparsity and smoothness produces phase transitions.
A persistent latent vector, the "talent", that gives the model a stable cognitive predisposition instead of relying on the prompt alone.
In Italian: rethinking applied AI around processes. The value of AI in a company isn't in large, static datasets, but in the processes it redesigns and the data those processes generate.
Neural networks for the autonomous, real-time control of proton-boron fusion reactors.
Erasing specific concepts from an already trained language model to make it GDPR compliant, without retraining it from scratch.
Meta-learning and domain adaptation combined, to transfer knowledge to new domains more robustly and efficiently.

Builds on-premise AI systems for industry and finance, compliant with the EU AI Act, so the data never leaves the company.
algoretico.it
Migrates and modernizes legacy code across more than 30 languages, using multi-agent pipelines and private models hosted on Italian servers.
scriba-ai.devA software factory based in Pristina that builds with AI-assisted processes, from design to release.
Technology advisory on AI investments for the family office founded by Marco Landi.
lagiste23.euFounder and CTO, 2020–2023. Neural networks for generative art built from genomic data.
Chairman and CEO, 2018–2022. A publishing house and Midnight Magazine.

My blog on AI research and engineering, in Italian.

The AI podcast I make with Gerebros.

Since 2018, more than 300 generative AI tools.

An advanced training school entirely focused on artificial intelligence.

Chatbots trained on each company's own knowledge.

Artificial intelligence for creating digital humans.

Recruiting that screens applications with AI.

An AI that gathers the news and explains it in a chat.

A search engine for movies and TV shows.

My first podcast about artificial intelligence.

An Italian marketplace for fencing gear.
Together with the Algoretico team, I follow every project from the first analysis to the final release. First we figure out where artificial intelligence can really make a difference, then we build the system and fit it into the processes the company already runs.
Process analysis, use-case discovery, team training and AI governance.
Software, models and agents integrated with the client's systems, from SAP to ERP and management software.
Models installed on the company's own servers, so the data stays in-house and the EU AI Act is respected.
FusionMind, an on-premise assistant on nuclear fusion that answers by citing its sources, running on NVIDIA hardware. Plus AI Studio, for building agents without writing code.
Bills of materials in PDF and Excel read automatically, cost estimates, make-or-buy decisions and SAP integration.
Finding a part among CAD drawings, data sheets and photos just by describing it, the way you would ask a colleague.
FireGuard AI designs certified fire protection systems starting from laboratory test reports.
Custom CRM and ERP, automated invoice checks and convolutional neural networks on dental CT scans.
The AI lab of the 2024 edition and a character-assistant that guides visitors through the festival.
